Fata referendum
By our correspondents
April 27, 2016
This refers to the article, ‘Fata: merger or provincial status?’ (April 19) by Ayaz Wazir. People, including politicians, living outside Fata have no right to decide about the fate of people who have been facing coercive state laws for decades.
The people of Fata should be given a choice through an independent referendum to decide whether they want to merge with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or opt for an autonomous provincial status for the agencies that constitute Fata. This is their fundamental right, guaranteed by the constitution.
