Sindh Caretaker Information Minister Muhammad Ahmed Shah has said that there will be zero tolerance for the display of weapons during the February 8 general elections in the province and miscreants violating this order during polls will be arrested after lodging of criminal cases against them.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, he said no one would be allowed to take the law into their hands in the province on the election day.
Shah said the ECP had dispatched the ballot papers to the district headquarters in the province. He said distributing the ballot papers in Karachi would begin on Wednesday. He said makeshift polling stations had been established near the troubled riverine belt of Sindh.
Shah told media persons that an election cell being established by the Sindh Information Department would start functioning from Wednesday (today).
He said the deployment of army troops to maintain security on the day of polling had been completed. He said the participants of the apex committee meeting held earlier in the day were informed that certain miscreants had been planning to commit terrorism on the occasion of general elections. He said the security agencies were fully prepared to prevent any sabotage activity on election day.
