HYDERABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon, who is contesting the provincial assembly’s PS-61 constituency, on Monday said that all the political parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Grand Democratic Alliance, appear in public only at the time of an election.
“When the people were suffering due to Covid and floods, where were the halwa eaters? The public should not be deceived. The halwa eaters have come to eat halwa during the elections.”
Addressing a rally in Tando Jam, the former Sindh minister said he stood side by side with the people during the Covid pandemic and the flood emergency. “Only the PPP gets involved with all the sufferings of the people.”
Memon said the PPP sees it as their duty to serve the people. “We have always prioritised the people’s problems, and served the people without discrimination,” he said.
“We have done record development work even in those areas that did not vote for or support us. The people of this constituency will set a record in the election as well.”
The PPP leader said Tando Jam is the only town in the province where the Peoples Bus Service has been started for the public. “We have given a girls degree college as a gift to the people of Tando Jam, constructed roads and provided a water supply system.”
He said the party is not connected to the people only as politicians and voters. “We are connected as brothers. My doors are open 24 hours for the public. We consider public service as worship. We will continue to serve the people.”
Memon said people would cast their votes by stamping the arrow on February 8. “There will be only one rain on February 8, and that will be a rain of arrows.”
He said the people would help the PPP’s candidates win, and help the party make a clean sweep. “PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will become the prime minister, and the country will progress.”
