Events arranged at SBBWU to highlight Kashmir issue

PESHAWAR: Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar (SBBWU) on Sunday arranged discussions, speeches and creat`ive expressions in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day.

The students voiced concerns over the plight of Occupied Kashmir, emphasizing the need for global attention and empathy towards the Kashmiri nation.

An art exhibition and on the spot contest provided a visual representation of the Kashmir issue.

Students displayed their creativity through painting, offering diverse perspectives on the conflict.

A talk was given by Prof M Naeem Qazi, Director Area Study Centre, Peshawar, enlightening the audience with a comprehensive overview of the Kashmir issue.

He delved into religious history, Buddhist civilization, Islamization in Kashmir, the Mughal and the Dogra Raj dynasties there.

The speaker highlighted the pivotal role that youth could play in fostering awareness, dialogue, and constructive change in addressing the complex challenges faced by the Kashmiri people.

He sought support from human rights organizations to address the Kashmir situation and provide relief to the nation.

SBBWU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Safia Ahmed shed light on the Kashmir issue, emphasizing the importance of awareness among the students.

She talked of the atrocities committed by the Indian army in Occupied Kashmir, highlighting the restrictions imposed on Muslims.

The vice-chancellor acknowledged Pakistan’s vital role in advocating for the rights of Kashmiris

She said India should allow the Kashmiri nation the freedom to choose between an independent state and joining Pakistan. A walk was arranged as well which was attended by the vice-chancellor faculty and students.
