Steps being taken to ensure peaceful election in KP: officials

KOHAT: Khyber Pakhtun- khwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Islam Chaudhry and Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat said on Sunday that efforts were underway to ensure peaceful elections in all districts of the province.

The officials expressed these views during a visit to the Kohat region. The officials addressed an important meeting at the DPO office in Kohat, which was attended by Regional Police Officer Kohat, Sher Akbar Khan, Commissioner Kohat Division Muhammad Abid, DPO Kohat Farhan Khan, and DC Kohat Dr. Azmatullah Wazir.

They said that both the police and district administration had prepared comprehensive and relevant plans for the elections in a peaceful manner.

“Peaceful elections are their top priority and all available means will be employed for the purpose,” the chief secretary.

“Rule of law will be maintained in all circumstances, and the Election Commission’s issued code of conduct would be strictly enforced to ensure ethical conduct,” said the IGP.

During the meeting, detailed discussions took place on security arrangements, individual and social responsibilities, and other important matters related to the peaceful conduct of general elections.

The chief secretary said: “Enforcement of the Election Commission’s code of conduct for peaceful elections would be ensured at all costs.”

The chief secretary and IG police also visited the Command and Control Centre and polling stations at Postgraduate College Kohat, assessing the arrangements with satisfaction.
