The Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP) in collaboration with the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board (QMMB) organised a ceremony in connection with Kashmir Day on Friday.

Director General Press Information Department Erum Tanveer honoured the ceremony as chief guest.

An intra-school art competition programme was held and it was meant to show solidarity with Kashmir and its people’s struggle for freedom. Students participated in the art work competition where they showcased their thoughts in support of the Kashmiri people under Indian oppression.

In her address, Erum Tanveer praised the commemorations of such events and also lauded the hardships the DEMP & QMMB faced in arranging such events. She remarked that by celebrating this day, young kids had the idea about what was happening in Kashmir.

She told the participants that a resolution for resolving the Kashmir issue had been passed in the UN, and this issue had to be resolved according to it. She highlighted that until today the issue remained unsolved because we lowered our voices in favour of Kashmir freedom. She stressed that the youth must be engaged in these issues because they were the future of this country. She also said that state had the prime responsibility to ensure engagements of young minds in national affairs.

Deputy Director DEMP Mehreen hosted the ceremony and briefed the chief guest about students’ work. The chief guest visited the art and appreciated the efforts of all students.

She also distributed award certificates to top three students. Erum Tanveer was presented with a shield by Resident Engineer Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Abdul Aleem Shaikh.
