Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the former Sindh information minister said the court of law in the country had sentenced former prime minister Imran Khan as per the law of the land.

He said that earlier Khan, when he was in power, had used the same laws against his rivals.

He said that an incumbent ruler could purchase the gifts from Toshakhana but the same gifts could not be resold in the open market for profit-making.

Memon told media persons that selling precious gifts given by the head of a state in the open market was an unlawful act. He said the unlawful acts of Khan had caused colossal loss to the public exchequer.

He recalled that Khan in his tenure had misused his authority to target his rivals victimising them on political grounds.

The former Sindh information minister informed media persons that he was not pleased with the jail term being handed down to the wife of Khan. He said that Khan should remain behind bars due to his misdeeds but a woman should not be imprisoned.

He recalled that the former prime minister had earlier caused hardships for the families of his rivals. Memon lamented that opponents of the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf who had been critical of his rule had been brazenly victimised.

He mentioned that former president Asif Ali Zardari had never disclosed any state secret despite remaining behind the bars for several years.
