The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl candidate from National Assembly constituency NA-237 Karachi, Ehsanullah Hazarvi, has announced withdrawal from the race in the upcoming general polls in favour of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan candidate Abdul Rauf Siddiqui.
Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday, Siddiqui said he gave value to the political and national services of JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
He said the MQM had not just entered into an electoral alliance with the JUI-F but it had also launched a political alliance that would continue in future as well.
He said that the Pakistan Peoples Party had been wary of such alliances formed by its rival contesting parties, and that was why it was attempting to resort to rigging in the polls.
He said his party had formally written to the Election Commission of Pakistan to inform it about such rigging attempts. He alleged that a community centre in the constituency of PPP leader Saeed Ghani had been unduly converted into a polling station. He said the returning officers and presiding officers in his constituency had been unduly favouring the PPP.
