Driver tortured to death
LAHORE : A dumper driver has been tortured to death by his opponent fellow drivers after an exchange of harsh words over passing on a road in Manawan.
Victim Zain-ul-Abideen worked as a dumper driver and was engaged in shifting of sand at different points in the city. He was passing through a sand dune when he exchanged harsh words with Iqbal alias Bali over passing through the passage.
The suspects along with five accomplices subjected him to severe torture that claimed his life. A case has been arrested against them. Police said that they were investigating the matter.
Imposter arrested
Police have arrested an impersonator for minting money from people by harassing them while disguising as a government officer.
Suspect Imtiaz would harass public by impersonating himself as a government officer.
A citizen Abdullah had registered a complaint with police. The authorities after registration of the case arrested the suspect.
Murder suspect held
A suspected robber, who murdered a shopkeeper, who tried to capture him after recognising him at a public place few days after the committing of the offence, was arrested by the Hanjarwal investigations police.
Iqbal Town Investigations SP Mughees Hashmi revealed this while addressing a press conference on Wednesday. He told media that the suspect Fiyaz alias Gulabi had taken away Rs20,000 from a general store. Few days later, the victim Shahzad not only identified him but also tried to capture him near Thokar Niaz Beg. The suspect resisted and opened fire at the victim, who received bullet injuries and died.
About another incident, SP Mughees told that police arrested a suspect Fahad Shafqat, who few days back had shot dead his two brothers-in-law - Muzammil Ali and Mudassar Ali. Their sister Komal had contracted a love marriage with the suspect.
Later, she filed a case for dissolution of marriage but Punchayats were held to stop Komal and her family members from the dissolution of marriage.
On the day of the incident, after an exchange of harsh words, Fahad opened fire and murdered Muzammil and Mudassar.
