This refers to the letter ‘FBR 2.0’ (January 26, 2024) by Dr Najeeb A Khan. Undoubtedly, restructuring is always taken as a positive step that brings more efficiency and compatibility with international standards. Restructuring has nothing to do with tax evasion and tax avoidance.
Unfortunately, restructuring is often tailor-made to suit individuals or groups and create more high-profile jobs, so its impact is not always felt. The solution lies in deterrent punishment and not in making new rules.
