LAKKI MARWAT: Peshawar Electric Supply Company chief engineer (operation and maintenance) Akhtar Hameed has asked the local authorities to expedite anti-power pilferage drive and ensure recoveries from industrial and commercial consumers by the mid of next month.

Chairing a meeting in Bannu on Sunday, he said that recovery of arrears from defaulters must be made up to February 15. He said that slackness and negligence on part of local officials during the operation against power thieves and defaulters would not be tolerated at all.

The chief engineer asked the anti-power pilferage teams to eliminate illegal electricity connection from commercial areas in Bannu city and Naurang town of Lakki Marwat district.

“The removal of illegal connections will help to improve the power supply system and ensure provision of uninterrupted electricity to the business hubs in both districts,” he maintained. He appreciated sub-divisional officers of Bannu (urban) and Naurang sub-divisions for result oriented actions against electricity stealers. Later he inspected the PESCO circle offices’ buildings and vehicles.
