Suspected robber killed in encounter

LAHORE : A suspected robber was killed in an encounter in the Kahna area on Sunday.

Reportedly, three suspects were busy in looting citizens after setting up a picket. A police team on information responded to the call and rushed to the place.

The suspects on seeing police party resorted to firing. In exchange of fire, a suspected robber received bullet injuries while two of his accomplices fled the scene.

The suspect was identified as Saeed. Police shifted his body to morgue.

Youth dies as car falls into canal

A 20-year-old youth died after a car fell into canal near Thokar Niaz Beg U-Turn after losing control due to overspeeding on Sunday. A person was left injured in the incident.

Reportedly, the victims were riding a car and going somewhere. As they reached near Thokar Niaz Beg, the driver lost control of the vehicle. It overturned and fell into the canal. A rider identified as Mustafa Ejaz, a Begumpura resident, died while the driver Faisal was injured.

Six die in road accidents in 24 hours

Around six people died, whereas 1,110 were injured in 1,033 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of these, 510 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 600 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
