“The Suki Kinari Hydropower Project is almost near completion. The federal government would provide free electricity to the dwellers of Balakot and Kaghan valley and if voted to power,” he told a public gathering in Kaghan.

Former federal minister Syed Qasim Shah and PMLN contender in PK-36 Mansehra-I Junaid Qasim also addressed the gathering.

Sardar Yousuf, the former federal minister, said the people of Balakot had rendered great sacrifices in the completion of the only mega energy project being executed in Kaghan valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor initiative.

“I am sure Nawaz Sharif will win the NA-15 seat with a thumping majority to become the prime minister of the country a record fourth time,” he added.

Over 5000 locals would be in the energy project which made part of the CPEC initiative by Nawaz Sharif, Sardar Yousuf said.

The PMLN leader, who is also contesting in NA-14, said the natural gas supply project for Balakot, which was approved by Nawaz Sharif in 2013, was scrapped by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government.

“We will also revive this mega project. And the deforestation will end if Sui gas is supplied to Kaghan valley,” he added.
