Steps for promotion of furniture industry stressed
PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) vice-president Ijaz Khan Afridi on Saturday urged the government to take pragmatic steps for promotion of the furniture industry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The furniture industry had played a pivotal role in economic development as well as enhancement of the country’s export and steps must be taken to promote it, he told the inaugural ceremony of an expo here. Various stalls of Pakistani and international furniture were set up in the ‘International Furniture and Craft Fair Pakistan 2024 Expo. The SCCI vice-president said huge potential existed to make investment in the furniture sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He asked to create maximum opportunities for promotion of the furniture industry and investment in the sector.
On the occasion, the expo organizer told the SCCI vice-president that they were planning to hold Furniture Expo (Pak-Afghan Transit Exhibition) in Kabul, Afghanistan for which collaboration of the chamber was required.
Ijaz Afridi expressed satisfaction over organizing the mega furniture expo in Peshawar and hoped such events will continue in future in KP/Peshawar and rest parts of the country.
