Importance of female architects highlighted

LAHORE : A three-day conference in collaboration with 'Women in Architecture, UK' (WIA) and Department of Architecture UET, held here.

The first day of the conference 'Voices of Women in Architecture' was held in London while proceedings of the second and third day were held in Lahore. Dr Mamuna Iqbal (Department of Architecture, UET) convener of the event said the conference proved to be a very successful event in highlighting the importance of female architects' participation in academia and practice. The event also highlighted the issue faced by women architects in the profession and discussed future actions. Head of Architecture Department at UET, Dr Munazzah Akhtar and Prof Dr Neelum Naz also attended as panellists.

Boot camp participants given away certificates

The Department of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged the concluding ceremony of the month-long ‘Boot Camp for Veterinary Professionals’ to enhance their clinical skills here on Friday.

Emeritus Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed presided over the concluding ceremony and distributed certificate among participants and distributed shields to resource persons while Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Prof Dr Asim Khalid, Training Coordinator Prof Dr Muhammad Ijaz and 20 Veterinary doctors experts/ /professionals, clinicians, students and faculty members were present. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed said our veterinary professionals are equally talented and trained like developed countries’ vet professionals. He said it was direly needed to promote such activities to impart best clinical practices and skills to professionals.

Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf congratulated professionals on successfully completing the training under the boot camp for enhancing their professional skills.
