Cotton is an extremely important agricultural commodity for Pakistan, providing fibre, food, and fuel. However, our cotton farmers are facing significant problems. Insects and diseases attack the cotton crop every year, causing huge losses. The overuse of pesticides has only exacerbated the production woes.
To turn things around, farmers can perhaps try using less fertilizer and instead clean the leaves more regularly. We need smart strategies to deal with the threat of pests so that Pakistan's cotton industry can thrive.
