KARACHI: Pakistan’s Farhan Zaman failed to qualify for the $150,000 Men’s El Gouna International Squash Open at New Marina, El Gouna, Egypt, on Sunday.
Gregoire Marche of Fraance defeated Farhan 11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 13-11 in 55 minutes in the qualifying finals.
Throughout the match Farhan was controlling good spells, but would just switch off combination of physical and mental sharpness, losing all the benefit of the hard work.
In the first game, he was up 8-5 but lost the game 11-8.
In the third set, Greg speeded up the pace, hitting much harder and prevented Farhan from having any say in the game, 9-3, 11-6 in 8 minutes.
In the last game, both fought fiercely, but a few errors under pressure by Farhan allowed the Frenchman to close the match 13-11, Zaman having had a game ball at 11-10.
