Days before polls, Gohar gets interior ministry
Gohar Ejaz concurrently holds the portfolios of Industries and Production and the Board of Investment
ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has assigned the additional portfolio of Interior Ministry to Gohar Ejaz, Federal Minister for Commerce, with immediate effect. Gohar Ejaz concurrently holds the portfolios of Industries and Production and the Board of Investment. The decision follows the resignation of Sarfraz Bugti as the caretaker Interior Minister from the federal cabinet six weeks ago.
In accordance with Rule 3(4) of the Rules of Business, 1973, the prime minister has formally designated Ejaz Gohar, Federal Minister for Commerce, Industries, and Production and Board of Investment, as the Interior Minister. This notification was issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday.
Official sources indicate that the caretaker prime minister, after consulting his aides, opted to entrust the crucial Ministry of Interior to Gohar Ejaz instead of introducing a new member to the cabinet.
