KARACHI: Golden Eagles overpowered Aftab Qarshi by six wickets in the final and clinched the Turk Plast Veterans Cricket Gold Cup at Ali Garh Cricket Ground, in Lahore, on Sunday.
Batting first, Aftab Qarshi posted 251-5 in the allotted 30 overs. Asif Ijaz produced a whirlwind innings of 92. Musroor Hussain (49) and Mohsin Aftab (40) also batted well. Tajammal captured a three-wicket haul.
Golden Eagles reached the target for the loss of four wickets in 29 overs. Ashfaq Askam (83), Shahid Anwar (51) and Mohammad Hafeez (61) were the leading contributors.
Bilal Khilji of Golden Eagles was declared the best batsman of the tournament for his 498 runs in six matches.
Tajammal of Golden Eagles and Tariq Hussain of Aftab Qarshi were adjudged the best bowlers.
Zubair Butt of Golden Eagles was named the best wicket-keeper and Jamshed Suleman of Amar Cables received the best fielder’s award.
