FBR reform
This letter refers to the news report ‘Cabinet considers FBR revamp today’ (January23, 2024). According to the report, “the Secretary Revenue Division/FBR chairman has signed the summary for the restructuring plan of the FBR and its digitization and forwarded it to the Cabinet Division”. I am hopeful that this revamping plan is approved expeditiously by our caretaker cabinet. Indeed, all FBR employees should be given a salary increase for this year and for the next two years so that they put in their utmost effort to collect each and every rupee of lawful tax, duty, and other levies.
These revenues should be spent on the revitalization of Pakistan. I appeal to the FBR rank and file not to resist change and accept it with an open heart. With a new, revamped FBR, god willing, a vastly improved and vibrant Pakistan will emerge.
