LAHORE: PMLN supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, along with PMLN Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz, led his first public rally in NA-130 on Tuesday.
Nawaz and Maryam started the rally from Taxali Chowk where Bilal Yasin, PMLN candidate from PP-174, gave a warm welcome to them and PMLN workers showered flowers on their leaders convoy.
PMLN workers had started arriving at Bilal Yasin’s camp in the afternoon while welcome camps had been erected in different areas. Lions had been brought to the camp and workers were seen taking selfies with the lions locked in iron cages.
However, Nawaz took strict notice of bringing lions to the rally and immediately asked to send them back. Following his instructions, Bilal Yasin sent back the lions. Nawaz instructed that no tiger or any other animal be brought to any rally in Pakistan. “Islam and laws related to animals advise us to respect the rights of animals,” Nawaz said.
Before the arrival of Nawaz, a motorcycle rally of PMLN supporters was organized on the Mohni Road in which motorcyclists shouted slogans in favour of PMLN leaders. Party songs were played on the music system.
Colorful balloons were released and petals were showered on the convoy. Nawaz and Maryam came out of their car and responded to slogans of workers.
When the rally reached Bilal Ganj Chowk, fireworks were displayed while in Amin Park, Makkah Road, Kasurpura Chowk, Khokhar Town, Mulan Bakhsh Chowk and other areas, a large number of workers walked along with Nawaz’s car. Passing through big bazaars, the rally ended at the Kutchehry Chowk.
