Challenges to healthcare system discussed
LAHORE : The caretaker Provincial Health Ministers Prof Dr Javed Akram and Dr Jamal Nasir participated as special guests in a roundtable consultation held at the National Institute of Public Policy on Post-devolution challenges for healthcare system.
Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Balochistan Dr Amir Khan, Dr Faisal Sultan, PMA General Secretary Prof Dr Shahid Malik, Dr Saad Khalid and various medical experts also participated. Dean National Institute of Public Policy Dr Naveed Elahi highlighted the services rendered by the institution. The speakers discussed the post-partition period (2010-2023) and discussed important challenges such as financial constraints, dependency on donors, absence of strong Public Private Partnership (PPP) floods and covid-19. Prof Dr Javed Akram stressed solving a wide range of problems to improve the health system of Pakistan.
According to the SOPs, one doctor and four nurses should be added to the system, which is completely reversed. It is very important to have political vision in the country to overcome the challenges of devolution. For the success of the health sector, there must be continuity in the positive policies of every government.
Dr Jamal Nasir demanded government make all policies for the betterment of the people. Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Balochistan Dr Amir Khan said that all stakeholders have to play their role in improve the health system.
FJMU holds White Coat ceremony
The White Coat Ceremony was held at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) on Tuesday where FJMU VC Prof Dr Khalid Masud Gondal was the chief guest.
Principal of Fatima Jinnah Medical College (FJMC) Prof Noreen Akmal gave a detailed briefing about the Fatima Jinnah Medical College and University.
She said that it would be our endeavour that the students of Fatima Jinnah Medical University are provided a home-like environment and 100% scholarships will be provided to the needy and deserving students.
On this occasion, the Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Kamran Khalid Kh, Registrar Prof Dr M Nadeem, Deans Prof Aisha Malik, Prof Bilquis Shabbir, Prof Aliya Zahid, and Prof Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Heads of various Departments, Faculty Members, students, and parents actively participated in the ceremony.
Prof Khalid Masood Gondal while addressing the students, said that the parents of the students are real worthy of felicitations, due to whose prayers you have reached this place today.
The Dean of Basic Sciences Professor Aliya Zahid administered the oath to the first-year MBBS class. Prof M Nadeem said that wearing a white coat is a symbol of peace, compassion, care, and support, and now it is the responsibility of you people to serve the patients.
Prof Kamran Khalid Kh said it was an honour to teach at Fatima Jinnah Medical University. Prof Bilquis Shabbir briefed about the recent rankings of the university.
A special souvenir was presented to Ms Pakeeza Mazhar, the student who secured the top position in the class.
