The city of Hub is situated in close proximity to one of Pakistan’s largest dams: Hub Dam which possesses ample water resources. The dam is also replenished annually during the rainy season.
Despite these abundant water resources, why does Hub continue to grapple with a scarcity of potable water? In my assessment, this unfortunate predicament can be attributed to ineffective administration and possibly widespread corruption within the irrigation sector and the city’s administrative leadership.
These factors have facilitated the emergence of a water tanker mafia, which capitalizes on the water shortage by selling it at exorbitant prices. It is disheartening to witness such gross mismanagement, as it deprives the people of Hub of their fundamental right to access clean drinking water.
