PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday rejected the plea seeking the cancellation of the bail granted to former minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Mohammad Khan.
Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim heard the writ petition field by the provincial government.
The additional advocate general, who represented the government, told the court that the special anti-corruption judge had granted bail to the minister in a case about the alleged embezzlement and violation of merit in appointments in the Fisheries Department in Mardan.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment had launched an inquiry into the allegations on the basis of public complaints. He said that the alleged corruption had caused huge financial loss to the provincial exchequer, adding that the anti-corruption court overlooked the evidence on record and granted bail to the former minister. The official requested the court to overturn the decision of the anti-corruption court. After hearing the arguments, the court rejected the plea seeking the cancellation of the bail.
