Open forums planned to address business community’s issues

PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Regional Tax Office (RTO) Peshawar have agreed to hold open forums to resolve the business community issues.

The understanding was reached at a meeting between SCCI President Fuad Ishaq and Chief Commissioner RTO Peshawar Zafar Iqbal at the RTO, said a press release here on Friday.The meeting was attended by SCCI other office-bearers Sanaullah Khan, Ijaz Khan Afridi, Commissioner Inland Revenue of RTO Peshawar Dr Syed Farooq Jamil, and Additional Commissioner Audit of RTO Peshawar Fazle Malik.

Fuad Ishaq gave a proposal to the government and Federal Board of Revenue to reform the tax system and bring down income tax, sales tax, withholding tax and Customs duties to single digit.

He said this would bring new people to the tax net and make tax collection easy.The SCCI chief expressed satisfaction with the tax officers for facilitating the business community.The chamber president emphasized that the government and the FBR should take effective measures to widen the existing tax base and simplify the tax system.

He demanded for provision of facilities and relief to the business community and implementation of business friendly policies.Fuad Ishaq said that the business community was facing difficulties in the present situation and stressed that serious measures should be taken to solve their problems.The Chief Commissioner of RTO Peshawar assured that all possible steps would be taken to solve the problems of the business community.
