ISLAMABAD: The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that they had got some positive indications in the current tense situation between Pakistan and Iran.

A first backdoor contact between Pakistan and Iran took place at diplomatic level on Thursday night after three-day tension between both countries.

According to reliable sources, a senior diplomat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, who is currently performing important responsibilities in the Foreign Ministry after coming to Pakistan two months ago after performing services as Pakistan ambassador to Iran, used his good offices and made contact to a high-level official of Tehran on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter). Bilateral contact was made more than once after that contact.

When contacted, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that “yes, we have got some positive indications”. However, she avoided giving any details in this connection.
