Matric student dies a day after being shot by muggers in Korangi
Two robbers arrived on a motorcycle and snatched a cell phone from the victim’s uncle
A student of matriculation, injured by robbers while resisting a mugging attempt, succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Thursday. Sixteen-year-old Ayan had been shot and injured by robbers in Sector 50 of District Korangi on Wednesday evening.
Police said that at the time of the incident, Ayan was playing cricket with friends outside his house, where his maternal uncle, Danish, was also playing at some distance. Two robbers arrived on a motorcycle and snatched a cell phone from the victim’s uncle. The suspects fired shots while fleeing, causing Ayan to be severely injured.
The teenager was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased also worked in a factory during the evening and was the eldest among three siblings.
The funeral prayers for Ayan were offered at the Eidgah Ground of Jamia Masjid Jalaluddin. Family members, relatives, and a large number of residents attended the funeral and expressed their condolences. The deceased boy was buried in a graveyard in the Korangi area.
