Rawalpindi: On the directives of Additional Inspector General Traffic of Punjab, the City Traffic Police has launched crackdown on public service vehicles plying on different routes without fitness certificates and route permits.
City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Taimur Khan monitored crackdown being conducted by circle officers with their teams and directed them that no negligence during the operation would be acceptable.
The city traffic police Rawalpindi challaned 1,060 vehicles for without fitness certificates and 1,835 vehicles for not having route permits and imposed fines of Rs2,895,000. Moreover, the traffic police also issued 1,872 challan tickets to motorcyclists not wearing helmets, while actions were also taken against 319 smoke-emitting vehicles, nine of those were impounded in police stations. The fitness certificates of these vehicles have also been sent to concerned departments for purpose of cancellation.
