ISLAMABAD: An electoral alliance between Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Shirani (JUI-Shirani) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) could not be concluded after they failed to reach a seat adjustment agreement.
A senior JUI-Shirani leader has described the verdict of the Supreme Court against “bat” as the cause of the split between the two sides. At a recent press conference, JUI-S leader Maulana Gul Naseeb raised questions about the performance of the PTI lawyers by asking what the fault of the Supreme Court was when the PTI lawyers could not plead the party’s case. “There should be some reasons behind the Supreme Court decision,” he said. In their separate statements, PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat and the JUI-S spokesman have confirmed the split. JUI-Shirani leaders Maulana Gul Naseeb and Maulana Shujaul Mulk said that the two sides could not reach an agreement on seat adjustment. The JUI-Shirani has fielded 40 candidates for the National Assembly. They also accused the PTI of not showing seriousness about seat adjustment formula.
