NA speaker lauds PRA in reporting parliamentary activities
Pervez Ashraf said that PPP has been giving numerous sacrifices for the sake of democracy but it never attacked country’s integrity and security interests
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that violent incidents of May 09 are such shameful events of country’s history while May 28 when nuclear tests were conducted, made Pakistan’s defence as formidable.
“The violent acts of May 09 are such shameful acts of country’s history which should not be discussed even at any place,” the NA speaker said while talking to reporters after inaugurating office of the Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) to facilitate journalists covering proceedings of two houses of the Parliament and standing committees.
Pervez Ashraf said that PPP has been giving numerous sacrifices for the sake of democracy but it never attacked country’s integrity and security interests. He said that the role of media to bring Parliament and people closer is of fundamental importance, adding that parliamentary reporting is of paramount significance to make common people aware about parliamentary activities.
He also said that members of PRA has always been at forefront to fulfil their responsibilities of disseminating information and news about parliamentary activities.
NA speaker has said that Parliament represents the will and aspirations of masses. “Maintaining sanctity of parliament is a collective responsibility which must be prioritized, he said and observed that it is the parliament which is the source of power and responsibilities of each institution.
Appreciating the role of PRA for accurately and efficiently reporting about parliamentary activities, he said that it has always been his priority to provide facilities to members of PRA so they can effectively performed their responsibilities in professional manners.
