CHARSADDA: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Aimal Wali Khan has stressed the need for self-accountability for all.
Talking to Geo News, he said he fully supported the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, on his stand on the general elections that these should held in time. The ANP leader said that there were certain powers which did not want timely elections in the country, adding that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, too, did not want elections in time.” But Pakistan will be incomplete without democracy,” he stressed.
Referring to the roles of former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar and erstwhile spy chief Lt-Gen ( r) Faiz Hameed, he said some elements considered themselves above the state because of these two figures.
To a question, he defended the decision of stripping Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) of its electoral symbol of bat. “Bat has not been snatched from the PTI but the decision has been made as per the law and the Constitution,” he added. Aimal Wali said the PTI was not holding the intra-party elections despite repeated reminders. He said the party had been avoiding intra-party elections for three years.
