Commissioner bans transportation of uncovered fish

The Karachi commissioner, Muhammad Saleem Rajput, has banned the transportation of uncovered fish within the Karachi division.
The Commissioner's Office issued a notification in this regard on Monday and said in a meeting on December 16, 2023, the Sindh caretaker chief minister, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, had taken a decision to ban the transportation of uncovered fish.
The ban has been imposed under the Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The commissioner said the transportation of uncovered fish not only created a public nuisance but it was also an environmental hazard. The notification said the ban had been imposed with immediate effect for a period of two months until March 11, 2024.
