Anti-smog measures: LHC orders growing plants on rooftop of hotels, plazas
LAHORE:Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered growing plants on rooftop of hotels and plazas to counter smog.
The petitions filed by citizen Haroon Farooq and others on curbing smog came up for hearing before single bench of LHC led by Justice Shahid Karim Friday. The court during the hearing of the case ordered growing plants on rooftop of hotels and plazas besides directing environment department and PHA to evolve joint strategy.
The state counsel informed the court that a delegation on environment and climate was coming to Pakistan from China. The court directed Advocate General (AG) Punjab to arrange meeting of members of judicial water commission with Chinese delegation.
Justice Shahid Karim inquired from SP traffic about the cases being registered against under-age drivers. SP traffic replied earlier they were registering cases and now cases are not being registered.
The court remarked it is regrettable if you are registering the cases. You should increase penalty. Registering cases is injustice. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till next week.
