Data about pneumonia patients being collected
LAHORE:On directives issued by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, data collection about pneumonia patients has been started in Punjab for the first time and chief executive officers of the district health authorities in the province have been directed for taking immediate steps this regard.
Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir revealed this during a press talk on Thursday. Sample collection was also started in view of the complaints regarding fake pneumonia medicine, he added. The minister informed that immunisations for children included the pneumonia vaccine as well.
He called upon the parents to vaccinate their children to protect them from pneumonia. Expressing concern over the large number of deaths due to pneumonia, the minister observed that the course of immunisation has to be completed for ensuring children’s health. He told that Pneumonia diagnosis and treatment facilities were available free of charge in all government hospitals in Punjab.
