Two PHC judges take oath

PESHAWAR: Two recently confirmed judges of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) took oath of offices here on Monday.
PHC Chief Justice, Mazhar Alam Miankhel, administered oath to the two confirmed judges including Justice Muhammad Daud Khan and Justice Syed Afsar Shah. Earlier, the PHC Registrar Muhammad Ayub Khan read out the notification issued by the Law and Justice Division about confirmation of the judges.
The PHC senior judges, PHC Bar Association President, Muhammad Essa Khan, general secretary Muhammad Ayaz Khan, law officers and senior lawyers attended the oath taking ceremony held at Courtroom No-1.
Presently, there are 19 PHC judges. Out of these 15 are confirmed and four are additional. However, one post of the PHC judge is still vacant as the official strength of the PHC is 20. Justice Muhammad Daud Khan was born on August 1, 1954 in a Rajput family of Dera Ismail Khan.
He was enrolled as advocate of the lower courts with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council in 1981 and obtained licence from the KP Bar Council for practicing law as advocate of the high court in 1983. He did Shariah course from International Islamic University, Islamabad in 1999. He was enrolled as advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2008.
