KHAR: The local leaders and workers of Pakistan People’s Party on Tuesday staged a protest rally against the recent bomb explosion and urged the government and state institutions to fulfill their prime responsibility of providing protection to people.
PPP leader and former lawmaker Akhunzada Chattan and party district chief Sher Bahadur led the rally, which started from the Bajaur Press Club and turned into a big public meeting at the Main Chowk in Khar Bazar.
The participants were holding posters and banners inscribed with slogans of their demands including ‘end terrorism and restore peace’ and “we want peace on our land’.Addressing the protesters, PPP leader Akhunzada Chattan, Sher Bahadur and others said that they were shocked by the reemergence of terrorism despite the presence of police and other law enforcing agencies in the district.
They said that the government and law enforcing agencies had failed in the restoration of peace and protection of security to the people. The innocent people, they added, were being target-killed in broad daylight in the bazaars, public places and chowks but the killers got scot free despite the presence of law-enforcers.
The speakers urged the district administration and high-ups of law enforcers to provide protection to the people and take solid steps for the restoration of lasting peace in Bajaur tribal district.
