HYDERABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) chief Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair has announced a 25-point manifesto of his party and the names of candidates for the General Elections 2024.
He made these announcements while addressing a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club on Tuesday, during which JUP leaders Nazim Ali Arain, Dr Younis Danish, Parisaid Shah Chishti, former MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput and others were also present with him.
Sahibzada Zubair announced the names of the candidates for the National Assembly from 14 constituencies across the country and the names of 29 candidates for the assemblies of the four provinces. The candidates will contest the elections on the symbol of the key.
He said the JUP had also submitted a priority list of names of one female candidate from the National Assembly, two for the Punjab Assembly and one from the KP Assembly on the reserved seats.
Sahibzada Zubair, while issuing the election manifesto, said that the JUP would establish an Islamic welfare government in the country, which would play a fundamental role in providing education, health and employment. An independent judiciary would be established in the country, and it would give decisions based on justice.
He said that due to a conspiracy, peace and order in the country was deteriorating, and incidents of terrorism were happening so that the elections could be postponed. If the elections were postponed, the integrity of Pakistan would be damaged and terrorism would.
In response to various questions, Sahibzada Zubair said the JUP was in contact with the PPP, PTI and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan regarding seat adjustments, while talks were ongoing with the Muslim League Zia’s Ejazul Haq.
The position of the JUP and its candidates is strong in all the constituencies of the JUP, and we have also nominated candidates from Imran Khan’s constituency Mianwali and from Larkana against Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he added. On the matter of JUP (Imam Noorani) secretary general Shah Owais Noorani Siddiqui contesting from NA 220 Hyderabad constituency and the religious vote being divided as a result, Sahibzada Zubair said that he had won and contested for this seat in the past.
