ISLAMABAD: Differences over the award of party tickets have surfaced in Pakistan Tehreek Insaf, which has barred it hitherto from announcing the names of those who have been finalised for the electoral bout on February 8.
Differences have been found in the lawyer fraternity belonging to the PTI, as Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) President Qazi Anwar’s purported audio talk has emerged on social media, wherein he is talking about the award of party tickets. He could be heard purportedly saying that the founder chairman, Imran Khan, had directed to act upon the list of probables he had given him. The ‘interim’ party chairman, Gohar Khan, was not attending his phone call for the last three days.
“I have heard that no one is prepared to give party tickets to lawyers, and the announcement on the award of tickets will be made tomorrow. If justice is not done to us, then we shall thrash out our line of action tomorrow as well,” he can be heard saying.
Later, talking to Geo News, Qazi Anwar argued that Imran Khan had told him that tickets would be awarded to lawyers, but the party was interested in giving tickets to former members of the legislature.
He pointed out that after the incidents of May 9, the lawyers had rendered more sacrifices than anyone else, and that party should be provided to ILF members. “I will raise my voice for them, and if our demands are not fulfilled, then there is no justification for me to remain the ILF president,” he made it clear.
