Salman Siddique elected Gymkhana chairman

LAHORE:The newly-elected 12-member Committee of Management (COM 2024) has unanimously elected Salman Siddique as Chairman of the Lahore Gymkhana Committee of Management for the year 2024.

The Salman-Misbah Panel, led by former bureaucrat Salman Siddique and Mian Misbah ur Rehman, swept the Lahore Gymkhana Committee of Management elections.

The Ziaur Rehman-Tasneem Noorani group did not contest the election this year. However, 14 other members contested the election as independent candidates.

According to election results notified by Election Commissioner, the Salman-Misbah panel, which had fielded 12 candidates, won 11 COM seats out of 12 contested by 26 candidates. The winning candidates included Dr Ali Razzaque (1,640 votes), Wajid Aziz Khan (1,531), Mian Misbah ur Rehman (1,481), Salman Siddique (1,471), Sarmad Nadeem (1,443), Mian Parvez Bhandara (1,345), Samaira Nazir Siddiqui (1,344), Mian Waqar ud Din (Vickey) (1,248), Shaukat Javed (1,194), Sardar Qasim Farooq Ali (1,184), independent candidate Kh Imran Nazir (1,152) and Agha Ali Imam (1,063 votes).

It may be mentioned that Dr Ali Razzaque was also top scorer in COM 2023 elections with 1624 votes. This year, he even improved his own record by 16 votes. The other 12 candidates, who contested as independents, lost the election having obtained votes as followed: Qamar Khan (Bobby) (950 votes), Mian Azhar Saleem (833), Syed Abid Hussain (Syed Minhaj-ud-din) (820), Alamgir Elahi (740), Omar Javed Zia (656), Sheharyar Shami (594), Agha Qasim Raza (511), Justice (retd) Sajjad Ahmad Sipra (443), Iftikhar Ali Chattha (434), M Cyrus Saood Jan (346), Muzaffar Shah Hasnain (Hasnain Shah) (268), Mohsin Naseem (192), Syed Ameer Ali (110) and M Sharif Chaudhry (108 votes).
