Delay in polls JI women wing sees conspiracy behind Senate resolution

TIMERGARA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) women’s wing leaders have termed the resolution passed by the Senate to delay elections as a conspiracy against the country.They said the only solution to the uncertain situation in the country was possible through elections.

During a press briefing at Timergara rest house, JI women’s wing central secretary general Dr Humaira Tariq, deputy secretary general Dr Sameea Raheel Qazi, and JI women’s wing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief Bilqees Murad stated that the resolution passed by the Senate was illegal and unconstitutional.

They said the JI had consistently demanded free, fair, impartial and transparent elections, adding that real powers should be delegated to those who receive the public mandate.The JI leaders called on the public to place confidence in only honest candidates, not involved in corruption, and have an understanding of Islam. They asserted that the JI was the only political party with no corruption allegations against any of its members.

Regarding the political landscape in Lower Dir, Upper Dir, and Chitral, they observed that women were free to participate in political activities.Contrary to some NGOs claims, they asserted that women were not prohibited from exercising their right to vote, and women in the Malakand division had ample education opportunities.They expressed happiness over the increase in the women’s education ratio by 40 percent in the last few years, reaching 46 percent from the earlier 6 percent.
