MUMBAI: The legendary Javed Akhtar has never hesitated to speak his heart. Recently, he was at an event organised by ABP Majha where he spoke about several things related to art and cinema. He shared how filmmaking has become difficult these days.
Javed Akhtar said, “Film is an expensive exercise, it needs a big capital. And capital comes with an agenda, it wants the larger interest to be protected. Today the truth is that making a film has become difficult than before. People who bag the film get scared, and the censor gets scared. The fear of making a good or realistic film has increased.”
Talking about how it was easier to express one’s point of view earlier, he added, “If I were writing the script for Sholay today that temple scene between Dharmendra and Hema Malini, I would not have written it. Because it could get problematic. It will become an issue.
