Not essential everyone agrees to court’s order but justice must be evident: CJP

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa said on Saturday that not every citizen of the country needs to agree with the court’s rulings but justice being served should be apparent in the decisions. 

“Every citizen has the right to disagree with the decisions of judiciary. It isn’t necessary that the citizens concur with [the decisions] but justice should be seen being done in judicial decisions,” the top judge said while addressing the ceremony for the launch of the Federal Judicial Academy’s e-campus in Islamabad. He said the academy was working under a strong board and its success is the success for everyone.

CJP Isa said that as many as 3,200 judges are working in the country and the academy is providing training on different levels. He said the academy brings together judges from different provinces and regions on a single platform where they can share their experiences and ideas with each other.

He further stated that he feels satisfied by seeing the use of modern technology in the judicial academy.

Live coverage of the hearings of the cases gives the viewers, especially students, an opportunity to learn, the top judge said while commending the live hearing of the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act case.

“Live coverage gives people the confidence that justice is being served,” CJP Isa said.

Qazi Faez Isa urged the use of technology for the promotion of quality judicial education and delivery of justice to the litigant public.

The chief justice, also the chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Judicial Academy, Islamabad, launched the Vision+ E-Campus and Judicial Education Aptitude Module (JEAM) of the academy.

The chief justice emphasized his constant engagement with the academy, stating that active involvement is essential for its improvement and success.

He mentioned that the Judicial Academy serves as the best platform for sharing judicial wisdom among participants from across the country.

Highlighting the use of technology in judicial education, training and justice delivery, the chief justice appreciated the e-Campus initiative of the academy, urging the continued use of technology to enhance the quality of judicial education and justice delivery.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah discussed futuristic initiatives at the academy and highlighted the Judicial Education Aptitude Module (JEAM) as a qualifying programme for face-to-face training at FJA. He emphasised that FJA training would be used for talent profiling, maintaining a scoreboard of trainees and supporting their future career progression, including elevations to constitutional courts.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah advocated for judges of the district judiciary to be liberally allowed to pursue higher education from top universities worldwide. He also encouraged their participation in international conferences to learn from global experiences.

The event was attended by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Senior Puisne Judge, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Aamer Farooq, Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, judges of the Islamabad High Court, members of the district judiciary from across Pakistan, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as representatives of UN Women, ICRC, INL, NITB, among others.
