LAHORE ; At least 60,609 proclaimed offenders, court absconders, and record holders were arrested last year.
Among those arrested there were 11,311 POs and criminals of category A and 49,298 of category B.
Around 13,575 wanted criminals, 10,703 POs and 36,331 court absconders were taken into custody.
24,698 medicolegal certificates issued in 2023
A total of 24,698 medicolegal certificates were issued by different hospitals in 2023.
Some 4,732 medicolegal certificates were issued by Police Service Counter General Hospital, 3,729 by Jinnah Hospital, 2,847 by Services Hospital, 1,287 by Mayo Hospital, 924 by Ganga Ram Hospital, 2,520 by Mian Munshi Hospital, 2,236 by Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital, 709 by Nawaz Sharif Hospital, 1,278 by Rural Health Centres Barki, 1,652 by Awan Dhaiwala, 1,013 by Manga Mandi, 1,009 by Rural Health Centre and 762 by Police Service Counter Rural Health Centre Chuhng.
Man arrested for stabbing niece
Manga Mandi Investigation police arrested a man for stabbing his 21-year-old niece.
The accused Shaukat Ali wanted to get his niece Sonia married to his son. The victim had rejected the marriage proposal of the accused son.
Youth delegation visits CCPO office
A 50-member delegation of youth visited the Capital City Police office under the Friends of Police Internship Programme.
The delegation was briefed about the organizational structure, professional training, performance and responsibilities of Lahore police. CCPO Lahore while talking to the delegation said that under the Friends of Police Internship program, students from universities and educational institutions were being provided an internship opportunity in the police department. He said that under the internship program, these young people were given the opportunity to work with the police in various fields so that they could understand the working of the police.
223 road accidents in City
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 934 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these road accidents, 16 people died, whereas 946 were injured. Out of these, 404 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 542 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams. The statistics showed that 223 road accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 227 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 68 Faisalabad in with 65 victims and at third Gujranwala with 52 road accidents and 52 victims.
Two found dead
Two persons were found dead in different parts of the city on Saturday.
A 35-year-old man died while traveling in Metro Orange train in Qila Gujjar Singh police area. The deceased was identified as Liaqat Masih. A 30-year-old man was found dead in Sabzazar police area. The deceased, yet to be identified, was a drug addict who might have died of excessive use of drugs. The bodies were shifted to the morgue by Edhi Ambulance.
