Two suspects, including a Lyari gangster, were killed in separate police encounters, while two citizens were wounded for resisting mugging attempts in the city on Saturday.
In the first incident, a suspected street criminal was killed during an alleged encounter with the police near the superhighway in Karachi. The exchange of fire occurred within the limits of the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area police station, where one suspected robber was killed, and another was arrested in an injured state.
The suspects, on a motorcycle, were reportedly looting passersby near Wazir Goth when the police arrived. The suspects opened fire, attempting to escape, prompting the police to retaliate, resulting in one suspect killed and his companion wounded. The casualties were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where the killed robber was identified as Qadir and the injured arrested suspect as Hussain. Weapons and looted items were recovered from their possession, leading to registered cases and ongoing investigations.
Separately, another suspected robber was killed in an exchange of fire with the police within the Napier police limits. Identified as Salman alias Pan Mandi, the suspect, associated with the Ahmed Ali Magsi group of the Lyari gang war, was involved in various crimes, including extortion and the recent murder of trader Shahzad Jafarani. The police recovered a weapon from his possession, and multiple cases had been registered, with further investigations underway.
In other incidents, citizens Ameer Hamza and Anis Ahmed were shot and injured in separate mugging attempts. Hamza was injured in Mianwali Colony in the Qasba Colony area, while Ahmed was wounded near KDA Chowrangi in North Nazimabad. Both the victims were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
