President calls for increasing charity works to serve underprivileged sections
President Alvi appreciated the charitable activities as he visited the free meal service at Muhammad Ali Society
President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi has called for increasing charity works to help underprivileged and destitute persons of the country.
He praised the efforts of the non-profit Saylani Welfare International Trust in imparting state-of-the-art training in the IT fields to underprivileged youth, providing free meal service to destitute persons, and carrying out welfare activities in several sectors for needy people without any discrimination.
The president appreciated the charitable activities as he visited the free meal service at Muhammad Ali Society and the School of Business and Islamic Leadership of the Saylani Trust on Saturday.
Dr Alvi inaugurated the newly renovated building of the School of Business and Islamic Leadership on the occasion and also had lunch with people at the free meal service of the organisation.
He interacted with beneficiaries of the free meal service and inquired about their problems. He also presented a cheque to the Saylani as personal donation for its charitable services.
The president urged other charities and non-profits in the country to sincerely serve the deprived sections of society without any discrimination on the grounds of caste, creed, religion, ethnicity, colour or language.
Later, while interacting with the students of the School of Business and Islamic Leadership, Dr Alvi said that in addition to getting latest education, the people should also become fully aware of the importance of humanitarian causes.
He said the privileged people who had acquired higher education should donate their valuable time and resources for the uplift of deprived people.
The president lamented that affluent nations and developed parts of the world had been silent over constant aggression by Israel against the innocent people in Gaza.
He added that rich countries, despite massive knowledge and education, had no regard for the acute sufferings of the people of Gaza at the hands of the oppressive state of Israel.
The Saylani Trust founder, Maulana Bashir Farooq Qadri, and Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Ghazal expressed gratitude to the president for taking time out from his official engagements to inspect firsthand their charitable projects. They also briefed Dr Alvi about the future plans of the organisation as it intended to expand its IT education facilities in Karachi.
