MMC serves over 10m patients in 2023: official

MARDAN: The Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) delivered healthcare services to 10,06,339 patients during the year 2023, according to an official statement issued here on Friday.

Medical Director Prof Dr Imad Hameed said that besides providing healthcare services to general and critical patients, the hospital had put in place adequate arrangements to facilitate patients suffering from viral infections.

He said that out of the total 10, 06, 339 patients, a total of 5,01,367 patients were facilitated in the Accident and Emergency Department and 5,04,972 in the Outpatient Department. He said that as many as 91,454 patients had been admitted to various specialties for further treatment and investigations.

The official said that 10,04, 162 investigations had been performed in the laboratory during the period while MRI, CT scan, X-ray, and Ultrasound tests for 211,545 patients were conducted.

He said that besides 53, 847 major operations and minor procedures, 9,382 dialysis sessions were conducted during the previous year. He said 53 percent of patients were provided free treatment through the Sehat Sahulat Plus programme.

The officials said that the Institution-Based Private Practice (IBPP) had also shown positive trends where 147,443 patients received medical advice, adding that 2,845 major and minor surgeries were also performed in the facility.

The medical director said that 145,350 children were examined at the Benazir Bhutto Children’s Hospital as well.Hospital Director Dr Tariq Mehmood said that MMC was frequented by thousands of patients from Mardan and adjacent districts, including Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Buner and Malakand to seek diagnostic and treatment services.

He said that keeping in view the increasing demand, the hospital administration arranged related medical apparatus to provide the best healthcare services to an enhanced number of patients.
