MBBS, BDS admissions: UHS to release list of 49 colleges on 8th
LAHORE: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) will release the first college-wise selection list of admissions in private sector medical and dental colleges in Punjab on January 8.
A UHS press release on Thursday said that candidates opting for admission against the centralised admission policy will be responsible for their own losses. The joint selection list for 49 private sector medical and dental colleges of the province will be released for 4,000 MBBS and 1,025 BDS seats. Upon appearing in the list, candidates are required to submit the prescribed fee within three days.
Successful candidates must also provide written confirmation of joining at the respective colleges, the ‘public alert’ notice read. In order to safeguard the rights of admitted candidates and facilitate the fee collection process, all private colleges have been legally bound by an affidavit to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations outlined by the university and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council regarding fee refunds or transfers. Colleges having submitted the aforementioned affidavit are duly authorised by UHS to collect the entire fee from admitted candidates.
In cases where candidates upgrade in subsequent selection lists, colleges are obligated to transfer the candidate's full fee to the newly allotted college without any deductions.
The list of colleges that have submitted the affidavit will be disclosed concurrently with the first selection list, and candidates will directly deposit their fees to these authorized colleges. The notice further clarified that the colleges yet to submit the affidavit will not be authorised to directly collect fees from candidates. Instead, UHS will collect the token fee (Rs one million for open merit seats and US$ 10,000 for foreign seats) to ensure the protection of the rights of admitted candidates.
Following the completion of the entire admission process, the university will transfer this amount to the relevant college's account.
According to a UHS spokesperson, all candidates and their parents are advised that, in accordance with the policies of the Punjab government and the decisions of honorable courts, any private medical and dental college within the geographical boundaries of Punjab is not empowered to independently admit students.
"Only candidates admitted through the centralised admission system by the University of Health Sciences Lahore will be recognised as "admitted". The spokesperson further stated that the rights of the candidates will be safeguarded, and admissions will be strictly based on merit.
