ISLAMABAD: Senior Civil Judge Qudrat Ullah Thursday set January 10 for the formal indictment of former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the controversial Nikkah case.
The judge issued a written order, directing the jail superintendent to ensure execution while considering the logistics of accommodating lawyers and media representatives.
In anticipation of the proceedings, the Adiala Jail superintendent has been tasked with determining the number of attendees during the indictment. The court order emphasizes the provision of all case-related documents to the accused, with charges officially filed on January 10.
The case revolves around Khawar Maneka, Bibi’s former husband, who claims the marriage violated the Sharia laws. Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi face allegations of marrying within the three-month “iddat period” post-divorce, with additional accusations of fornication. As the legal drama unfolds, all eyes are on the impending courtroom confrontation.
