On January 2, Fahim received a call from his cousin Azeem Shahzad who informed him that someone had shot Wasim dead. He stated that upon inquiring, he learned that his brother had received a phone call, after which he left the house without revealing his destination. Later, it was discovered that someone had shot him in Sector 7 without disclosing any motive.

In the light of the complainant's statement, the police registered an FIR No 06/24 under the Section 302 against unidentified assailants. The investigation has been handed over to the police's investigation unit. Police said the case was being investigated from different angles and nothing concrete could be said until the investigations were complete.
