KHAR: The workers and local leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl staged a sit-in against the bomb blast on their candidate for the PK-19 in Bajaur tribal district.
The JUIF workers and local leaders while holding posters and banners inscribed with slogans of their demands staged the protest sit-in outside the office of Election Commission in Khar, the headquarters of Bajaur tribal district.
They chanted slogans against the lawlessness and attack on Qari Khairullah, the JUIF candidate for PK-19.Addressing the protesters, JUIF district chief Maulana Abdur Rashid, general secretary Maulana Laiq, PK-22 candidate Imran Mahir and others said that their party was being pushed to the wall.
They said that all political parties and candidates should be provided a level-playing field so they could participate in the forthcoming election without any fear.The protesters had also raised black flags and chanted slogans for restoration of lasting peace in Bajaur and elsewhere in the country.
It may be mentioned that JUIF candidate for the February 8 election had escaped unhurt in a roadside blast in Bar Kamar area of Mamond tehsil in Bajaur district on Wednesday.Qari Khairullah was on his way home in the Zagai area when his vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device. He remained unhurt in the blast; however, his vehicle was damaged in the explosion.
